One Hundred Orange Street, once the address of John C. Cahalan Sr’s house in Wyandotte, Michigan, and now the name of this site, is dedicated to preserving and presenting the story of one branch of the Cahalan family in America. In the course of three generations, from emigration from Ireland in the 1850s through John’s death in 1939, the family rose to prominence in state political, professional and civic life. This site draws from published and family sources, including legal documents, census records, photographs and letters, to present a narrative and documentary history.
