Aunt Sarah Knapp's Collection, Part 3:

Aunt Sara Knapp's Photographs

These photographs were taken by Sarah Knapp, sister of Della Knapp Cahalan, wife of John C. Cahalan, Jr.

There are three groups of snapshots, here--one taken around the Cahalan house at 100 Orange Street and at the house of John C. Cahalan, Jr. and Della Knapp Cahalan, at 415 Maple, in Wyandotte, one of various members of the Knapp family, and a third taken on the grounds of an unidentified school. Aunt Sarah was an elementary school teacher in Highland Park, and it's clear that these are her students, some of whom seem to be re-enacting a school play or pageant. The ages of the Cahalan children would seem to indicate that the collection as a whole dates from around 1917 or 1918.

Numbered in the order in which they were scanned--a indicates the face, or obverse, of the photo, and b indicates its reverse (if information was to be found there)--this group includes several photographs which have been identified; that information is included in the captions to the images. The originals were first grouped and scanned on August 6th, 2007, and are filed under that date. They have been re-scanned at a higher definition for this upload.
