While I'm organizing material to make an addition to the site tomorrow--and praising the gods of summer vacation for the free time!--I thought I might share these photos, which, technically, are not a part of the story of the site, but are still part of family history.
The Cahalan Building in downtown Wyandotte was built on the corner of Biddle and Elm streets as the original site of Cahalan Drugs, and became the flagship location of the four stores. It burned down in the fall of 2001, due to faulty wiring. Here are a group of pictures of the blaze. They seem to be taken from a helicopter flying over the city, and come from a wonderful Facebook group called All Things Wyandotte, which I recommend highly.
